Dear Friends in Recovery,

In July, Intergroup hosted an exciting brainstorming session with OA members from around Northern Virginia. As a result of those lively conversations, Intergroup has been charged with focusing our activities in two areas of outreach: 1) exploring the use of advertising to attract newcomers and those who are in relapse, and 2) reaching out to medical professionals and facilities who may not know much or anything about how OA works. In addition, as we move forward, we have committed to put a special emphasis on welcoming people who are often under-represented in our rooms, including African-American, LGBTQIA, Latino and younger members. And here's the great part, you don't have to be an Intergroup Rep or attend Intergroup meetings help out and share your skills and enthusiasm! If you want to get involved with either (or both!) of these efforts, we want to hear from you! Please contact your Intergroup rep, anyone you know on the NoVA Intergroup board, or email me at and we'll get you connected with the subcommittees working on these important initiatives!

Also, stay tuned for details coming soon about two special events we are planning in the coming months including International Day of Experiencing Abstinence (IDEA) Day on November 18th as well as the Promises Candlelight meeting.

Remember, together we get better!
